A | Await at this example sentence: The woman who lives adjacent door (relative clause) is a doctor. A clause is a part of a sentence. A relative clause tells us which person or thing (or what kind of person or thing) the speaker means: | | √ | The woman who lives next door ... ('who lives adjacent door' tells u.s.a. which adult female) | | √ | People who alive in the country ... ('who live in the country' tells us what kind of people) | Nosotros use who in a relative clause when we are talking well-nigh people (not things): √ | An architect is someone who designs buildings . What was the proper name of the person who phoned ?
